Every element of the book — from the sparse, deliberate text to the choice of paper — is uncompromising. In hand, the most immediate feature is the bold title “Post-historical Creature”, locked firmly across the spine. It serves as both the physical hinge of the book and the conceptual backbone of the work. The title spans the back cover, spine, and front cover as a continuous visual band. Only when the book is fully opened does the entire creature, straddling prehistory and post-history, reveal itself.
On the opened cover, the back is left bare, flowing seamlessly into the front; a printed timeline runs to the edge of the page. At its limit, a digital dinosaur stands on the cliff of time, confronted by a library call number and the bait of flesh — a quiet question: jump, or not?
Here, cataloguing becomes an act of sentencing; the poet, the counterweight of their own body.
